I have tried for 3 months to get surround sound from my Tinker Board on Libreelec, Kodi 17. Connected my tinkerboard through HDMI to my TV, and Optical kabel from TV to Stereo. and i yesterday i got i to work, and i cant belive i havent tried it before. Instead of using HDMI Audio Output as i have always done, i switched to Analog Output (Still Only the HDMI cable connected, the sound is sent trough the HDMI to the tv when choosing ANALOG output), the Standard choice on Kodi startup, 2.0 channel, Stereo upmix on, Passtrough with DTS, AC3 + Transcoding. started a movie and Dolby digital decoding right away..Anyone else who has gotten this to work with another method?
PS: THIS SHOULD ALSO WORK WITH TINKEROS SINCE THE ANALOG OUTPUT IS STANDARD THERE ALSO, WILL TRY TOMORROW
I'm running Android attempting to do the same on mine. By choosing analog what do you mean? Within Kodi? Within your tv? with android?
For the benefit of everyone in the forums, please specify the exact settings you changed in pulseaudio and any other locations.
Are you getting rear surround effects?
I can get left + right + center channel, but no rear channels.
Was you able to get DTS passtrough, or DTS was decoded by Tinker Board and only PCM passed to sound system?
Mine works as per the original post. I have HDMI to my TV, then optical to my surround decoder. Dolby works great, including rear channels, but DTS doesn't work unless I transcode it to Dolby/AC3 in Kodi.
Hello,
This is exactly the only thing I am missing on this board to be 100% satisfied with my usage (i.e. a media player with kodi and a game streamer with moonlight).
I just tried what you said on android 13.11.0.4 without any success, what I did:
1) modify parameters in Android parameters in "HDMI and audio" of sound output as "spdif"
2) In kodi, I basically tried all combination of audio parameters in both 5.1 and 2.0 (apparently spdif support only two channel but actually passthrough more channels, wasn't sure about in which mode it should do it): enable/disable ac3 encoding, enable/disable dts capabilities, enable/disable passthough. Not once, any sound came out.
So, anyone knows if I am doing something wrong?
And did anyone tried on the newly released 13.12.0.43?
