Yes as soon as I power on the board the red LED comes on and stays on. No other colors come on.
Could you try to connect the board to a Linux PC via micro USB cable? Let's see if the board can boot into UMS mode and recognized by PC.
You can also try lsusb on PC to see what is recognized there.
I have connected it to a LInux PC via the micro usb cable. The lsusb command does not show the eMMC.
The first two enties, Bus 004 and 003, show up when it is connected to the LInux PC.

Sorry I wasn't clear.
As I said, connecting the micro usb to the LInux PC nothing shows up on lsusb.
When I connect the micro usb to a power block (5V, 3A the same one it ran with for 2 years) and then connect one of the 4 USB ports on the Tinkerboard to the linux laptop that is when the two entries show up in the lsusb output that I mention above.

Do you mean there is nothing more displayed by running lusb on Linux PC when you connect Tinker Board S to Linux PC via micro USB cable?
Then you powered up the board by connecting Tinker Board S to a power adapter via micro USB. After that, you connect the type A receptacle on Tinker Board S to the type A receptacle of Linux PC. You can see the following 2 more displayed by running lsusb on Linux PC?

This is strange. Could you let me know how you connect the type A on Tinker Board S to the type A on Linux PC? Or I misunderstood anything?

You almost have it right. I don't have a Type A Male to Type A male cable so I went Type A Male into the Tinkerboard and then Micro USB into what I believe is called a Lightning port on the laptop. I am picking up an adapter so I can go into the Type A port on the laptop. I should have it sometime tomorrow.
