TinkerOS (debian) - bugs and issues
#1
No video output until X desktop appears

Given the tinkerboard has no flashing SD activity LED, its easy to think the board is dead for the 10-20 seconds it takes to boot up the desktop.
It's busy booting up, but gives no user feedback...

Connection Icon problem

Connection icon on bottom right spins continuously if using wifi and no ethernet is connected.
You need to click it and go to its menu and select wired ethernet / disconnect to get a proper icon back

Right click on the network icon > Edit Connections... > Select Wired connection 1 and click Edit > go to General tab > uncheck "Automatically connect to this network wwhen it is available"

Random logout

TinkerOS will randomly fall back to the login screen with all applications that ran closed or crashed.
Happens randomly every once in a while.

Hi,

I found the same on TinkerOS v1.4 if I did sudo apt-get dist-upgrade after apt-get update and apt-get upgrade.

I've now started with a fresh copy of TinkerOS v1.4 and left out the sudo apt-get dist-upgrade.

Regards

Nick

Hi,
Could you try to set "Menu --> Preferences --> Power Manager --> Select Display --> Disable 'Handle display power management and set Blank after to Never'" and then check the issues.

Thank a lot!

I fired my Tinkerboard up at 1st with a Raspberry power supply but got no boot, I then remembered that particular power unit tended to cause the raspberry to flash its power warning indicator under stress. So I next tried a newer unit, still rated at 2A but it did indeed allow the Tinkerboard to boot.

So if you are having boot troubles consider that power supply. Make sure it has a full 2A rating, some of the cheaper ones don't provide enough juice.

This happened to me when using a too thin USB cable. Make sure your using at least 20AWG for power, as recommended by ASUS in their FAQ.
