Recommend using a power supply rated at 3A with a reasonably short (1m) cable and you should have no problems, even with the cheap 22ga wires in the cable.  The USB 2.0 standard micro USB connectors are specified at 1.8A and the newer Quick Charge connectors are rated for 3A on the power pins.

I buy the ones with inline switches so I do not have to use the connector for disconnecting power and prematurely wearing it out.  Work great on Ras Pi's also. I have several, including my server.

Been using my Tinker Board pretty continuously for the last few weeks with no issues running the linaro OS.

Hi,

I'm having under voltage problems. Is there any list about the recommended power supply-s for tinker board?
I would like to run the board as a headless server with an external HDD attached (WD elements 1TB) to it.

Can I use the official Raspberry power supply (5.1V 2.5A, 18AWG)?
Or should I buy something else?
I was thinking about a Sony CP-AD2M2 (5V, 3A).
Whit a 18 or 20AWG cable

If you must use micro usb to power the tinker board, I can recommend jucEbitz cables , you can get them on ebay, they seem very good quality

The problem with micro usb as a power cable, is that its a bit rubbish.

I power my tinker board directly into the GPIO 5v and 0 v pins, using a buck convertor,

the advantage of a buck convertor , is that it drops a higher voltage down to 5v (or whatever voltage you need), but maintains the power.
So I use a 12v 1.5 amp power supply, the convertor drops this down to 5v, but since power is maintained, the max current is just over 3 amps. I.e. Power=Volts x Amps.

PS powering directly via the GPIO pins can break the tinkerboard if you provide more than 5volts

My 5v2.5A RPi power supply seems to cope okay, no instances of hanging. The usb cable makes huge differences. I am using a metallic 1m USB cable which not only power the Tinkerboard, but also capable of charging my Lenovo Yoga book, which like the Tinkerboard, uses a micro USB port for power. Look for the brand Remax.

I'm using a NorthPada 3Amp power supply, that I bought for my Rasp Pi, on Amazon, and it is working very well with none of the problems reported here (so far, but my TB only arrived yesterday!). The supply also has a very convenient in-line switch. I am also using a WD 2TB "My Passport Ultra" external drive, powered directly through the Tinker's USB port, with no apparent power problems.
(Edit. It is now the middle of May, and the power supply continues to run faultlessly. It is on almost all the time.)
