Security of debian OS on tinkerboard

hi am new to using tinkerboard and have a question that has bothered me for a few days.

i wanted to use the tinkerboard OS(debian) as a safer and more secure alternative to windows PC, is this a good idea? or should i stick to windows with a antivirus Confused

Linux does not need an antivirus program. I used Linux from the beginning and never had any virus.
