Kernel crashes or hangs.
#1
I have seen occasional kernel crashes or hangs on both Android and Debian.
I notice that Android uses 4.4.112 kernel while Debian uses 4.4.103+ kernel while the Rockchip repository
(https://github.com/rockchip-linux/kernel...3288-linux ) is at  4.4.154.
Any ideas why we are not on the latest Rockchip kernel ?

There might be some patch to be solved.
Don't you suspect power glitches ?
Search on the forum and you'll see what the folk have said about power supply.

im running tinker os 2.0.8 and seems very stable
sometimes VLC player causes a complete hang, but
i think thus is a VLC problem.
im using power direct to gpio so power issues are
not a problem

Even overheating might be a cause. But I doubt it might cause a reset, rather it should throttle down the rk3288 frequency. Perhaps at the extreme limits it will shut down.

im using a fan, so overheating is not a problem for me.

2.0.8 is only running at 1.5 mhz so i wonder if the next version which will run at1.8 mhz will be as reliable

Good evening.
I can confirm the problem with VLC.
Today eMMC reflashed and immediately the OS hangs up when I try to start VLC
My tinkerboard has a powerful fan.
The temperature always remains below 40 degrees Celsius.
The only change I made is the installation of the keyboard handler,
with which I changed the keyboard layout to German.

Does anyone know help?

Regards
Karl
