(solved) add new printer: PW and user "linaro" not accepted
#1
Hello.
I'm trying to install a new printer driver.
I go the way
Preferences -->> Print Settings -->> ADD
Then the Authentication window appears in which I am asked for my username and password.
I enter linaro for both.
The error message appears:
Not authorized. The password may be incorrect.

So I cannot install a new printer driver.
The CUPS service is activated.

What am I doing wrong?
Who knows what to do?

I use Mikerrs 2.0.8 TOS

Greetings
Karl

It might be difficult via the web-ui of CUPS. The linaro (debian derived) has not a direct access to the root password. Therefore you should look for the system setting or tinker-confg to configure your printer from there.
Perhaps you may try to access by web-ui, when you start the browser as administrator, so you're entitled as root and the process should allow to go the configuration bits. But I can't ensure you that, since it's a bit long that my TB laying in a drawer Big Grin

It may be the same if you'll try the same method with the system configuration.

@Im4Tinker
Good morning Im4Tinker,
thank you for your advice.

Unfortunately I don't know how to start the browser as root.
Can you please explain this to me?

In the tinker-confg I don't find a way to create a printer.

Have you tried to give the user the necessary rights for the printer? It should be s.th. like
sudo usermod -a -G lpadmin linaro

Try root and then your root password.
I just did mine with root instead of user linaro.

Grab Armbian - printer will work out of the box.
Armbian. Lightweight Debian Stretch or Ubuntu Bionic for Tinker Board.

Thank you very much for your help.

How can I create a root user?

I've been a TinkerOS user for quite a while, but I always reach my limits and am then quite helpless.

Root is defaulted.

use root and then use root for password.

You should change passwords for linaro and root.

Type in terminal

sudo  passwd linaro

then for root

sudo passwd root

It will ask for a new password.

The command is  passwd, not password.
