Tinker OS 1.8 Released
#1
Seems rock solid compared to my old 1.4. Still no luck getting Retroarch to run (you would have a friend for life if anyine could point me in the right direction of a guide to do this !!) but it's a step in right direction I'm sure Smile

i'm just curios if a apt-ugrade will give me a 1.8. i really can't spend so much time in reinstall/reconfigure everything on each 'tinkeros' 'upate'.

why don't they setup a simple repository WITH source packages? live could be so easy.

thanks for the info,

under tinkerOS 1.8 Kodi 17.1 can be installed.
It does not come out of the box. To install Kodi under TinkerOS 1.8, here's what I did:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install kodi

Hello Igonjo,

I was able to install Kodi 17.1 with TinkerOS 1.8 beta.
However,  tried on Exodus and Specto, I was not able to play any movies smoothly with these third party add-ons.
How about you?

Hi, no problems so far using Exodus. But i think i've only watched SD quality. I don't know if the gpu issues are overcome with this version. It's beta after all...

Okay. When I was using TinkerOS 1.4 with Kodi 16.1, I still can play HD movies.
Under TinkerOS 1.8, I can install and run Kodi 17.1 with Exodus. However, all HD and 1080p streamings look like SD quality.

The render method in video setting is disabled and no hardware acceleration. Not sure is the GPU problem!?

full OpenGLES3.x drivers aren't available on Debian, the current drivers are emulation, no full access to GPU for the moment. That's what i have understood from browsing the web.

I want to use OpenGL too.
But no idea for that.

I only know can try to use glmark2-es2
and get OpenGL Information, said version is OpenGL ES 3.1

I am trying the Android OS with a rockship kodi build called FTMC, here http://freak-tab.de/luis/Ftmc/FTMC-16.1-...ersion.apk
HD seems to be working a lot smoother with OpenGL ES 3.2
I have also tested SPMC 16.5.5 after reading @boudicca post @http://tinkerboarding.co.uk/forum/thread-259.html with good results but I prefer FTMC for support.
