Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu on the Tinker Board
#91
Are you certain the TinkerChromium.zip file is in the Downloads folder?

I just unpacked mine with unzip and it worked fine.

Hey everything is working great now. Just watched Netflix and it worked.

I don't know what I did the first time, but two's the charm.

Thank you very much Tim.

But strange thing is I have very bad peformance when whey playing HTML5 video (in 720p). It is like photo slideshow, instead of movie.
I am on TinkerOS 2.0.7, chromium 67 (but same result on chromium 63). I checked xorg-core package and I am using the right one - rockchip version.

Anyone with same behavior? Or is it just my problem?

Before 2.0.7 I had 1.8 and video playback was smooth.

Would you please post a link to the video in question?

Hi,

for me the problem is https://www.o2tv.cz/
For example that Infochannel.

But I found something on forum, that there is GPU video Acceleration turned off by default in newer Chromium. Will try it when I will be at home again and can test it.

I'm afraid I don't speak whatever language that is (czech?). It won;t let me run a video without registering, at least that is what I think.

It does run Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HTML5 720p on YouTube. I have not checked Hulu yet.

The Chromium v67 web browser does run the little info video on that site.

Hi,

I will do some tests on friday, when I will be at my home.
Well, yes, it is Czech specific site. But HTML5 player seems simillar like Netflix or Youtube (but I use youtube in Kodi only, so no experience here).
You can see how to play video without subscription on attached image. It is only video you can play on that website without registration and subscription... Sad

Hi,

thanks many times. I just downloaded your newer version of TinkerChromium.zip and it works now OK.
I think it that slideshow was caused by missing flag "--use-gl=egl" in /etc/chromium.d/default-flags. Before using new zip, it wasn't here and playback was very slow.

I've got this confirmed working on 2.08 with SurferTim's chromium build. It's doing Netflix and Amazon on 4k.

Thank you SurferTim!!!!

Thank you SurferTim!!!!

works fine for me alos, here is surfers tims instructions for chromium 67 and netflix

https://www.dropbox.com/s/yrovcp0m1yq1ntx/TinkerChromium.zip?dl=0
It includes Chromium v67, widevine v67, Pepper video player, and a new chromium.desktop file.
Download and unpack. Change to TinkerChromium directory and run

sudo ./install.sh
If it asks to replace flags, I selected 'Y'.

seems to need a reboot after this

run chromium using
chromium --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS armv7l 6946.63.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/63.0.3239.84 Safari/537.36"
