That sure looks familiar! I'll test that and let you know.
Thanks! (12-30-2017, 10:00 AM)SurferTim Wrote:(12-30-2017, 04:46 AM)bbortnick Wrote: I believe i edited a config file and rebooted... I can't save /boot/config.txt I even logged in to root and it prevented me from saving it. It is locked solid. The document could not be saved, as it was not possible to write to /boot/config.txt. Check that you have write access to this file or that enough disk space is available. What do I need to do? I took the microSD out and plugged it in another computer usb and edited it. Then put it back. It's the only way to edit on /boot partition. VLC audio still skippy. Smplayer playback is smooth. Nothing changed. I never had a linux OS that I was locked out. Root can't change anything on /boot?
That sure looks familiar, unfortunately the noise and distortion remain. The distortion and noise is less noticeable on video due to the audio variation of music /dialogue /silence. Playing music is unlistenable. This is rockchip digital audio output via hdmi, by the way.

How is smplayer play? It plays mp3 audio files much better for me.
Due to the poor quality digital/hdmi sound, i thought i would try the SPDIF digital output. No luck there. Pulse audio volume control shows active audio on the spdif output, but there is no light coming out of the spdif jack, or sound when i connect the toslink cable.
I am moving this spdif discussion to a new thread under hardware.

bbortnick, you soldered a header onto the board and connected an optical port? I know the solder points are there between the ethernet and usb, but have never seen proper details about getting it working.
I cannot use smplayer as my audio player - i am streaming google music, so I must use the browser.

See my rant under hardware.
I entered a problem with Asus technical support via their website. Weeks later, I weirdly got two incomprehensible phone calls asking me to complete a useless Asus customer feedback form that is not relevant for the ASUS TB, and is written for an ASUS rep to fill out for a multiple user/product failure issue, not an end user. In any case, the useful information was supplied via the web site problem registration which they seem to have ignored.
Pretty frustrating trying to work with Asus. |
