I bought mine with the intention to set up a Home Automation server.
The requirements should be:
  • Server HTTP for a web UI to operate it by smartphone and computers in the house.
  • AP to collect and store IP-cam inputs (motion detection might signalize to other)
  • Small NAS, to collect and share multimedia (I have a couple of HD thrown in a corner)
  • Bluetooth master control to transfer command to other devices.
  • New ideas to be added

You all may find my backgrounds about my intents, on my few threads Wink
Looking for partners to develop this.

Hi

I'm new to tinker board but i took the time and made a nice tinker desktop, i took an old laptop screen
brought control panel made a stand from acrilic board painted it added the tinker board to the back added a fan and the control board.
I installed Dedian 2.0.7 which all works sweet  I've done some photo editing using gimp again worked well. i have another project with blender and some animation to do
we'll see how that goes. I do have two issues but i will try and sort those out.  So right now i'm lovin my tinker board

Ohh! Nice !!
BTW it is a chance to make a TV-set smarter. Just to add a wireless keyboard or to add a infrared device to translate the extra keys of the TV-set's remote control.

HI smiley85

Well it's not a big fan, it's the fan i took out of the laptop i used the screen from.
And about the heat it's been on for about a hour with YouTube, Facebook, tinkerboard forum open and looking at E-mails and stuff
right now it's 32 degrees. I did notice a difference straight away the computer was  much more responsive and able to use for more   time so well worth adding a fan.

At the moment I use my tinker as a daily driver.  I am still new to dev boards so the ARM arch is a little new to me so it's a fun learning experience.  I love being able to use android,Linux, flint etc just by swapping an SD.  The more comfortable I become is also leading me to start using the scratch and other libraries so its a pretty cool experience.  I'm not sure why it has taken me this long to dive in to ARM boards and not just mobile devices.  Had some problems with media streaming but ATM Hulu,Netflix, Amazon and Kodi are going to be used daily and in time helping to compile images, driver and kernel support are a goal.  The ARM community seems great and just wish the tinkerboard support will become larger and Asus may manufacture a new board. I have already modified a few cases for VESA fittings, larger fans which look great. I'll post some pics later. Will be working on gpio breadboard mounts once I am better acquainted with it's use, aesthetics and portability are big for me.
