Oracle Java on Tinker

Is there any way to get Oracle Java working on the Tinker board other than the process described here, which looks iffy to me due to the use of Raspberry Pi repositories?

Oracle JDK 8
> sudo apt-get update
> sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer

I'm a bit worried by the need to add the repository, but I've done so. Java is installing as I type ... ... ... Ah, there were some worrying errors reported by some of the steps here, but java is now working fine. Thank you very much.
